Original Title: Lo que Europa debe al Islam de España

In this fundamental book, Juan Vernet introduces us to what, traditionally, was known as the Toledo School of Translators, which was active in the course of a very long period of time and had a major influence until well into the Renaissance. Vernet guides us through the process of the transfer of both Oriental science (Persian or Babylonian) and the science of Antiquity (Greek and Latin) that took place via Spain. Besides some important aspects of art and literature, in What Spain Owes to Islam we see the work undertaken by our ancestors in the fields of philosophy, the occult sciences, mathematics, technology, astronomy and astrology, physics, alchemy, geology, botany, zoology and medicine.
