Quim Monzó

Quim Monzó was born in Barcelona in 1952. At the beginning of the Seventies, he started publishing writings in Madrid and Barcelona newspapers on the wars in Northern Ireland, Vietnam and Cambodia. In 1982 he won a scholarship to study contemporary North American literature in New York. He has translated stories, novels and plays. He has written scripts for radio, television and cinema. He regularly contributes to La Vanguardia newspaper and to Catalunya Radio. He has published eleven books of narrative and ten volumes of articles. He has been awarded the National Literature Prize, the City of Barcelona Prize for prose, the Prize for Catalan Letters, the Prudenci Bertrana Novel Prize, the El Temps Novel Prize, the Gold Letter Prize for the best book of the year, the Catalan Writers’ Prize and, four times over, the Criticism Prize of Serra d’Or.
