José María Micó
José María Micó (Barcelona, 1961) is a poet, translator and professor of Literature at the Pompeu Fabra Univer- sity of Barcelona. His philological work includes books on Spanish writers – Alemán, Cervantes, Góngora and Quevedo – annotated anthologies of Spanish poetry, stud- ies and essays, the most recent among them being Las razones del poeta (The Poet’s Reasons) and Clásicos vividos (Classics I have Lived). He has also translated some of the great European classical authors including Petrarch, Jordi de Sant Jordi, Ausiàs March and Ariosto. His translation of Ariosto’s Orlando furioso (The Frenzy of Orlando) was awarded the National Prize for Translation in both Spain and Italy.
