About us

Sharing essential literature since 1979

The history of this publishing house began in 1979 when Jaume Vallcorba founded the Catalan literary imprint Quaderns Crema. Two decades later, the Spanish-language imprint Acantilado joined the project. In 2014, Sandra Ollo took over the management of both catalogues with the same desire to keep shaping a space of transversal reflection in which books of different genres and from different periods engage in dialogue, thus shaping an ever-richer universe.

We are proud to represent authors with unique viewpoints, works, and styles who, though they may differ in many regards, share an exceptional literary level. The authors in our catalogue mostly write literary fiction, poetry, and narrative essays on philosophy, thought, music, literature, history, architecture, travel, and other subjects.

Our aim is to convey and share the quality of these authors with like-minded publishing houses around the world so that their work will be accessible to a wide range of readers, thus extending the space of dialogue shaped by Acantilado/Quaderns Crema to realms beyond the Spanish and Catalan languages.
